Cathie Bauer, CRB, GRI, Broker says despite the economic slump nationwide, 283 homes were sold in Elk County in 2008. According to Bauer, of the houses sold the average price for St. Marys was $104,800 and for Ridgway $94,200 while the average sale prices increased for
St. Marys and Ridgway in 2008.
"Our real estate market is solid," Bauer said. "We haven't been impacted by over-building and over-speculation. Although subprime loans were made to local buyers the impact of foreclosed properties in our area is not overwhelming our market. We are not flooded with foreclosures
as are some areas of the country."
